Crossroads Farm at Grossmann's
The Nassau Land Trust is pleased to announce that the former Grossmann's Farm in the Village of Malverne is once again a working farm. Thanks to Nassau County, who acquired the farm from the Grossmann family using proceeds from the 2006 Environmental Bond Act, and the Crossroads Farm Committee, comprised of a dedicated group of local residents, nonprofit leaders and NLT Board members, this beloved family farm has returned to active agriculture. Since July of 2010, experienced organic farmer Bill Walsh, with the help of volunteers, has been working hard to rejuvenate the soil and restore the buildings and infrastructure. This will be a public farm and will feature educational and social activities. Nassau Land Trust looks forward to participating in the revival of an "agricultural culture" in southwestern Nassau County.
